At this point, we can say social media is addictive. The instant gratification we receive from likes and comments is an instant rush. Learning how to overcome internet addiction will help your mental.

IAD (internet addiction disorder overview)

The amount of people that are online on a daily basis is astounding! Every nanosecond someone from somewhere is logging online to shop, chat, and scroll.

Albeit not official, this form of addiction is real. When I used to work in psychiatry, we used a book called the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) to diagnose a symptom.

This book, in particular, is well equipped with fancy words for certain mental illnesses i.e. bipolar disorder, schizo-affective disorder, and so on.

Not listed in the manual is the addiction to tech.

Now, even though this term may not be “official” it cannot be denied either.

You see when we hop online, we are flooding our brains with sounds, pictures, and clips.

As a result, our brains secrete dopamine, neurotransmitters, and serotonin similar to a person that uses drugs or eats chocolate goods.

Think about this for a hot second, I am sure you have a vice of some sort whether it is shopping, chatting in the DM’s of a friend, or TikTok.

In a way, it is feeding your addiction(s).

I bet when you wake up the very first thing you do is open your device to see what is going on in your world.

I will not lie, I do the exact same partly due to me working for myself online.

While this isn’t a bad thing, you can see how dependent most of us can be on gadgetry.

The addictive effects of the social platform tools are robust.

It creates a so-called “technological dependency”, especially among the young.

These signs are evident.

Back in the day, you played outside for most of the day until the lights activated or when you hear the sound of your mom yelling, “GET YO’ ASS IN THE HOUSE!”

Nowadays, you cannot get these kids to move away from the idiot box or mobile screens.

This, in itself is problematic and you can clearly see this is a from of addiction.

It doesn’t help that there are tons of things to do online ranging from gambling all the way to porn.

This inherent issue is the real deal, Holyfield.

What I have just outlined here for you is tantamount to a person that addicted to drugs or food. You cannot make this shit up!

Similar to drugs, the addiction affects the user both psychologically and physically.

The user feels compelled to reach for their respected device of choice.

There are a bunch of different signs.

If you find yourself spending more time on your phone or computer than you do interact with people in person, you may be suffering from technological addiction.

This type of addiction can lead to social isolation, as well as problems at work or school.

Here are some signs that you may be addicted to technology:

* You spend more time online than you do offline

* You spend more time talking to people online than you do in person

* You would rather text or email someone than talk to them in person

* You get anxious or irritable when you can’t be online

* You neglect your personal hygiene or don’t take care of your overall health because you’re too busy with technology

* You’ve neglected your work or school responsibilities because you’re too busy with technology

* You’ve lost interest in activities that you used to enjoy because you’d rather be online if you think you may be addicted to technology, it is vitally important to seek help.

Believe it or not, there is some positivity for having technology and using it responsibly.

You see, communication is vital for your life and wellbeing.

Like anything else, too much of something can be deleterious to your health.

What are some internet addiction treatments?

There are a number of different treatment options available for people who suffer from internet addiction.

The most important thing is to seek professional help in order to get the best possible care.

One popular treatment option is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

This type of therapy can help patients identify and change the negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their addiction.

As far as medications go, I will not doubt that the liaison or MD will prescribe SSRIs to help curtail the addiction somewhat.

They work by increasing levels of serotonin in the brain, which can help to improve mood and relieve symptoms of anxiety.

Some common SSRIs include Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil. Side effects of SSRIs can include nausea, headache, and sexual dysfunction.

They are generally considered to be safe and effective medications, but some people may experience more serious side effects.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to certain addictions.

How you react to certain things in life does not mean it will work for Joe Brown.

Techniques for treatment of internet addiction

#1. Abstinence this is a scary word for some of you but it needs to be said. Try your hardest to limit your exposure to the world of the internet. Reward yourself for accomplishing your goals with positive self-talk.

#2. Practice the opposite – what do I mean? Switch up your routine to scramble your brain a bit. This can help mitigate the urge somewhat.

#3. Utilize external stoppers – set an alarm to prompt you to go outdoors or partake in the gym. Remember, there is more to life than the web.

#4. Personal inventory of usage – flashcards can help or even journal timestamps of your usage. In order for you to change what is happening externally, you need to change what you think.

Balance is the key to your life!

Balance is important for our physical and mental well-being.

It helps us maintain our energy levels, focus, and concentration, and supports our overall health and well-being.

When we are balanced, we feel more calm and centered.

We may be less likely to experience anxiety or stress, and more able to cope with life’s challenges. There are many ways to achieve balance in our lives.

We can start by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly.

We can also try to create more balance in our daily routine by setting aside time each day for relaxation and self-care.

And we can find balance in our relationships by spending time with people who make us feel good and by sharing our feelings openly and honestly.

The key is to find what works for us and to stick with it. By making balance a priority in our lives, we can help ourselves stay healthy and happy.

Talking about the demons you cannot face is a step in the proper direction.

Trying to overcome internet addiction is toil, but, what is not in life?

Do not be in denial, face your demons. Lord knows how many of y’all I included have them.

You can’t even find “studies” but you can find out what it does to the brain as I have outlined above.

In summary, the internet is a good and bad thing. It is entirely up to you to instill balance into your life for health reasons.
